atDNA comes up trumps

Another set of FamilyFinder results in from the family of Robert FAIRBAIRN in Richmond Ontario  by about 1829 (married Kate SCOTT who is reputed to have died at sea en route to Canada abt 1828).
And yes, more matches between the families of Archibald and Alison (CROSSER) FAIRBAIRN, and with the prior test participant, and also to the more distant 7th cousins, descendants of Robert & Agnes (LANDRETH) FAIRBAIRN.
We look to have proven the theory of where Robert belongs - a previously unknown son of Archibald and Alison.

The DNA Lineage pages have all been refreshed, and in particular the Fairbairn FamilyFinder page as been updated to include an updated chromosome map of segments of dna shared by descendants of John and Bessie (FLINT) FAIRBAIRN who married in Melrose, Roxburghshire around 1726.

There's an intriguing side effect to our increased number of FamilyFinder tests.
We now have matches between descendants of Archibald and Alison (CROSSER) FAIRBAIRN and descendants of Robert and Elizabeth (CROSBIE) FAIRBAIRN.
yDNA indicates that although these families are indeed connected, their common ancestor was well  back into the 1600s, which makes it seem unlikely that the link is their respective FAIRBAIRNs.
More work needed.

Confirmation

Preliminary dna results now in for David W Fairbairn (F-46). Thankfully they show him with a 12/12 match to his 2nd (and 4th) cousin, Michael E (F-12).

The rationalisation continues apace with a few more researchers, and trees, shifted from the DNA pages to the One Name Study pages.  As noted before, apologies in advance for any broken links. Several have been fixed, but some more may have been created, particularly as the Lineage numbers are being reviewed given the growing number of results, and now more apparent clusters of matches.

Busy few weeks

Andrew (F-47)'s results have started arriving, resulting in several updates to the FAIRBAIRN related pages.  We have a match with the "orphaned" Michael Rowland (F-23) FAIRBAIRN at last (in Haplogroup R1b1).
So somewhere, somehow, David (marr. to Peggy MERCER) FAIRBAIRN is related to John and Helen (ANDERSON) FAIRBAIRN.
Don't be surprised if there are broken links, or charts have disappeared. The results arrive in the middle of the, slow, rationalisation of the DNA and One Name Study pages so that lineage, wanted and researcher information is on the One Name Study pages, leaving DNA results and signature charts for the DNA pages.
If you have any particular people bookmarked, they are likely to change numbers sorry, to match those in the master database, which will make it easier to link from one site to the other.

The recent changes index on the DNA pages has been inflated somewhat by the realisation that somewhere along the way haplogroup numbering has changed, all those assigned to R1b1b2 now appearing as R1b1a2 instead on the Family Tree DNA results.   Not all have been changed as yet.

Two other kits (F-46) and (F-48) are at the lab awaiting results, but not scheduled to produce any until December - placeholders exist on the Summary DNA results page.

Matching set of pedigrees

With the two new exact 12/12 matches to the Lineage 1 Modal, an update was overdue.

The Patriarchs page has had outline pedigrees included for the two newly represented, and matching, lines of John & Elizabeth (YULE), and Robert & Elizabeth (CROSBIE)
These include the usual links to the personal pages of the respective participants on the supplementary pages, and links to/from their results on the summary pages.
Note that for Robert and Elizaeth (CROSBIE) there are a couple of theories about two of their sons, and potential descendants, so should there be any direct male line FAIRBAIRN descendants of Thomas and Helen (DOUGLAS), or John and Jane (WADDELL) out there willing to join and see if they get an excellent match to Geoffrey (F-39), they would be most welcome.

In addition to new results, the pages have also begun a conversion to a new form of descendancy chart which can be dynamically expanded/collapsed to help you understand where the person of interest "fits", for an example, see the chart for Lineage 1 "Clump 1", John and Bessie (FLINT)

Thick and fast

Well those last result panels came in thick and fast.
Stewart(F-38)'s Y-DNA67 marker results are now in, albeit without a predicted haplogroup as yet, although we can beat FamilyTreeDNA's lab to that one - I1.
He has an exact match with Robert (F-34), the line only GD 1 to the modal for Lineage 1 overall, and that on a faster mutating marker to boot.
Only one marker different is John (F-17), and they constitute a growing little sub group with CDYb = 39 instead of the modal 38.
Summary and supplementary result pages have been updated (F-38 now re-positioned to group matches), and the Patriarchs page rearranged to group these lineages together, ie Stewart(F-38)'s James and Isabel (TAIT), Robert(F-34)'s Alexander and Isabella (ATCHESON) and John(F-17)'s John and Jessie (JOHNSTON).

The related One Name Study pages for this line are gradually being added - some links may be broken between all of the above sections - checking is still underway.

More lines added

The Patriarchs page has been updated to include the lines of the nurserymen of Clapham, which line is about to be represented, if all proceeds to plan.
Supplementary pages have also been updated with this line, and the Wanted! page had a bit of a tidyup.

News that another of our kits is on its way back to the lab, so let's hope that this time results are as expected.
Summary results table has also been republished to reflect the current status.

20th: Another pedigree update

With the kits for several new participants either at the lab, or about to be, time for some more updates:
The Summary World Families Network pages have had a catch up to the more detailed information available on the Supplementary project pages available on the DNA Projects Portal.
- added pedigree for Robert & Elizabeth (YOUNG) FAIRBAIRN (Robert's 1851 census shows him as born Eckford, c 1799).
- result summary updated to include the two IRWINs (and their matching ELLIOTs) who match our FAIRBAIRN Lineage 1 modal marginally better than our FAIRBAIRNs do

28th: Irish Canadian FREEBORN link to Fife FAIRBAIRN

This is to extend a welcome to K(F-21) who has just joined the project.
Those of you who are participants already via Family Tree DNA wont see his matches from your personal page as he tested using the Ancestry-33 test.
However, of the 25 comparable markers with a Y-DNA37 test, he's a 25/25 match with our Fife representative Bill (F-20), showing yet another link between the Irish/Canadian FREEBORNs and the Fife FAIRBAIRNs (the other link has not yet joined the project).

A lineage 2 has now been created and the Supplementary pages updated to reflect this.
The Summary result and patriarch pages will follow in due course.

Bit more light reading

Further to yesterday's updates, the Supplementary pages have also been updated.
Main changes (that I can remember):
Inclusion of a  chart for Thomas and Margaret (CLARKSON) FAIRBAIRN, along with some explanatory comments about some erroneous published info re their son Thomas.
Check out the addition to the Fairbairn Lineages intro page (My ancestor was a cousin of Sir Williams - Hit or Myth?)
As yet, nothing on the page isn't published elsewhere over the linked sites, but it is pulled together into one place, with room for expansion where a published pedigree may need further "clarification" in light of more current information.

Full Lineages section update

Prompted by the receipt of the final panel of Joe's results, the full Lineages section of the Supplementary pages on the DNA Projects Portal has been reloaded.
Main changes are:
- Inclusion of the long promised Wanted! chart for Thomas & Elspeth (WOOD) FAIRBAIRN
- addition of several Genetic Distance reports for individual participants
- shifting of Joe's lineage from Lineage in Progress x to Lineage 1e (now 1b3)
